I thought Rice’s goal(s) celebrations and post match comments actually were more likely to piss off Chelsea players/fans

Solidbond - no. People are getting paranoid. His reaction to both goals, and post match, should tell you all you need to know.

Any one else think that Rice was to chummey with the Chelsea players? spent more time talking to them than he did his own players ffs, found it embarrassing to watch.

I don't for one second believe that Chiwell meant either his header that set up his chance, or the nutmegging of Fabianski.

He's not a bad player, but he's not one of the best players in the world either. Both were flukes. (He can prove me wrong by being that skillful again - preferably not against us, though)

And sometimes being set for a player putting his laces through his shot means you're caught out by a lucky touch. I thnk this happened to Fabianski.

Jaye M Pee below - excellent post. Hits nail on head. This is why it doesn’t matter how many brilliant players we sign - we are inhibited by the stubbornness and negativity of our manager.

The whole football world condemned the likes of Chelsea and the other top 6 who decided to break away from the domestic PL, but the FA sat idly by and let them just get away with it. Why on earth do you think they would think twice about making a “bad” decision to give them 3 points unless they are called to account. I hope the club makes a complain against the FA and the officials are held to account. I hope mendy and the ref in question get some severe stick when they are next at the OS.

All about opinions, innit?

I wouldn't say Fabianski commands his area and I think his distribution is dreadful - as is his communication with his defenders (evidenced by the Zouma cock up/collision yesterday)

Comparisons with Mendy are inappropriate because any Chelsea fan will tell you that he is a shadow of the player he was last season and they think he's being found out because the absence of Rudiger and Christiansen means that instead of facing long range shots he's having to be much more involved. He's now a weak link for them, has been all season and most want him dropping I think.

If Kepa plays on Tuesday it won't be because of the dreadful injury sustained by the cheating cunt yesterday

To be honest Fabianski had a decent game up to that point. There was no need to come out to Chilwell. He just needed to cover the near post.
Fabianski is still the best keeper we have IMO. He commands the box much better, his distribution is usually better and he is so calm.
Areola is a fabulous shot stopper with really good reactions but he doesn't come for crosses often. I've no problem with the current selection in goal and we all know at some point Areola will take over. Maybe then you see his limitations.

Every keeper in the league will make a few mistakes every season. Fabianski is no different. Mendy in the Chelsea goal made a couple as well but he got away with one of them by cheating.

My first thought was that Antonio was taken off to avoid him getting a second yellow. Thiago was doing all he could to make it happen. Of course, Cornet should have been the replacement, not Benny

Fabianski will continue to be first choice, it's ridiculous how Moyes his favourites. lose to newcastle and the pressure will be firmly on him.

I’d guess that Moyes is waiting for Fab to get injured or make a howler to justify bringing in Areola. Old style manager loyalty/stubbornness, which is why Cresswell still gets picked

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
It seems clear to me that Fabianski is the poorer of the 2 keepers we have which makes me wonder why Areola agreed to join and whether Moyes isn't more interested in winning cup matches than league matches this season

Some suggestion that Antonio was taken off after the incident with James as he was heading for a red and the idea was to see out the game etc. Back fired in hindsight but as we know “hindsight is a perfect science” :-)

The problems started with Fab. A fabulous shit stopper but his reactions and speed off the line is arguably now making him a bit of a liability with anything off his line?

Once that went in tge nerves kick in. Rice was arguably at fault for the second as he did not track the overlapping player who crossed it in. Tired or bad decision making?

That said Chelsea and other teams now targeting our right and Coufal who is improving again but a tad slow for the Premiership these days?

We still need to improve our possession though or lack of it. We still do not have the system, tactics and mobility as a team along with passing accuracy to play out from the back. Still launching it to Antonio which invariably gives it straight back
